Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has released an official notification for the recruitment of Supervisor Trainee (Mechanical & Electrical) at its CANSRU unit in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This is a golden opportunity for diploma holders in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering who are domiciled in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The selection is based on a written test with no negative marks, followed by a one-year training and a permanent position as Assistant Engineer with attractive monthly emoluments up to ₹61,152/- plus perks.

Educational Qualification

Post Qualification
Supervisor Trainee (Mechanical) Three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (recognized by State Board of Technical Education).
Supervisor Trainee (Electrical) Three-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering (recognized by State Board of Technical Education).

Salary & Training Stipend

During 1-year Training:
Consolidated stipend: ₹30,000/month
Extra hours/holiday training: up to ₹3,000/month additional
After Training (as Assistant Engineer, PS-1 Grade):

Objective Type Written Test – 100 marks
General Awareness – 10 marks
English Language – 10 marks
Numerical Ability – 10 marks
Reasoning Ability – 10 marks
Subject Based – 60 marks
Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes
No negative marks
Minimum pass mark: 50%
Test centre: Andaman & Nicobar Islands only

Tie-breaking rule:
Marks in Subject part
Seniority by age.

Service Agreement (Important)

Selected candidates must sign an agreement to serve CSL for at least 3 years after training.
Violation penalty: ₹3 Lakhs as liquidated damages.
No NOC for outside employment during training + agreement period.

1. Is B.Tech eligible for this post?
No. Only a 3-year diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is accepted.

2. Can candidates from outside Andaman apply?
No. Only candidates domiciled in Andaman & Nicobar Islands can apply.

3. Is there negative marking in the written test?
No. No negative marks.

4. What is the monthly salary after training?
Approximately ₹61,152/- per month + other benefits.

5. Where will I be posted?
At CANSRU, Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman or any CSL unit/project site in India/abroad.

6. Is the application fee refundable?
No. It is non-refundable.

7. Can I apply if I am a government employee?
Yes, but you must upload a declaration (Annexure-I) that you have informed your employer.

8. What if two candidates get the same marks?
The one with higher marks in Subject section gets rank priority; if still tied, older candidate is preferred.
